Charles E. Dessez, 75, of Heritage Manor in Youngstown and formerly of New Market, Virginia, passed away peacefully at 2:10 a.m. Sunday, November 13, 2011 at Vibra Hospital in Boardman with his children by his side.
Mr. Dessez was born on July 11, 1936 in Washington DC, the son of the late Robert and Virginia (Custer) Dessez.
Mr. Dessez retired in 1974 after serving his country for over 20 years in the United States Air Force and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He served abroad during the war and received two citations for bravery and was honorably discharged on December 31, 1974. After retiring from the Air Force he worked for Wells Fargo Security and as a security guard for Edward DeBartolo Sr.
Mr. Dessez was a member of Disabled American Veterans, and belonged to the Community Center in Virginia. He loved to go for rides in the country and mountains.
Mr. Dessez is survived by his second wife of eight years the former Charlotte Cullers whom he married on October 11, 2003. He is also survived by his four children Robin (Scott) Fleischer of Austintown, Terri (Mark) Cleland of Austintown, Jody (Mike) Kalna of Austintown and Charles R. (Rebecca) Dessez of Warren; a brother Leroy "Pete" Dessez of Virginia; a sister Velma Dessez of Fayetteville, NC; sixteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Besides his parents, Mr. Dessez was preceded in death by his first wife Barbara Owen; a brother Robert Norval Dessez and a sister Louise Dessez.
Calling hours will take place on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 from 5 until 7 PM at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel.
A Funeral Service will take place on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial with full military honors provided by the United States Air Force will take place at Green Haven Memorial Gardens in Canfield.
