Fowler – Paula Ann Smigrocky, 69, passed away Thursday afternoon, November 1st, 2012 at St. Joseph Health Center with her sister and friends at her side. She was born February 24, 1943 in Cleveland to the parents of Paul and Ann Smigrocky.

Paula was a 1960 graduate of Fowler High School and also received a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Youngstown State in 1970, and a Masters in Clinical Social Work from the University of Louisiana in 1972. Paula was a full time clinical therapist at Columbiana County Mental Health Center from 1972 to 1984 and then continued part-time there from 1986 until 2009. In 1983 she was employed as a marriage and family therapist at Catholic Community Services in Trumbull County and became a Program Manager in 1986. She has been a Licensed Independent Social Worker in the State of Ohio since 1986 and also an Adoption Assessor since 1996. In 2006 Paula was named Social Worker of the Year for the Ohio Chapter, Region 4 of the National Association of Social Workers. Until her passing, Paul worked for the Catholic Charities Regional Agency as Program Manager of Community Services overseeing Senior Support and the Senior Center in East Liverpool, Adoption and First Step Pregnancy Support, Housing and Homeless Services, and Emergency Assistance and Family Support as well. Paula was also Site Coordinator for the Warren office. She was an Adoption Assessor for the State of Ohio and over the years facilitated countless adoptions in Trumbull County.

Paula will be sadly missed by her sister, Norma Jeanne Brink and brother-in-law, Lloyd Brink (Vienna, OH), her beloved niece, Jessica Ann Garver (North Andover, MA), nephew, Aaron Paul Smigrocky (Apple Valley, CA), cousins Marlin Sue Martin and H. Frank Martin and his wife Diana Martin (Cortland, OH), coworkers, and many lifelong friends.

Paula had many interests such as camping at Paradise Lakes Family Campground, fishing and boating, gardening, knitting, woodcarving, raising and breeding Boston Terriers, raising exotic birds, skiing, golfing, reading, and keeping up with the successes of her niece and nephew.

A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, February 24, 2013 at 5:00 pm at Alberini's in Warren. Memorial contributions may be made in Paula's name to: Catholic Charities Regional Agency, 175 Laird Avenue NE, Warren, Ohio 44483 for The Senior Medication Fund Trumbull Co., or to Catholic Charities Regional Agency, 600 East Fourth Street, East Liverpool, Ohio 43920 for The Senior Center. Contributions can also be made to: H.I.K.E.(Hearing Impaired Kids Endowment Fund) and sent to Chairman Shawn Burke 235 Windsor Drive, East Liverpool, Ohio 43920.
