Funeral services will be 11 am Friday at the Mineral Ridge Church of Christ for Robert W. Stone who passed away Monday morning at his home.
Bob was born April 6, 1940 in Akron a son of the late Robert J. and Edna Mae (Hahn) Stone.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving as a Boatswain Mate on the USS Bennington and USS Hancock during the Vietnam Conflict.
Bob was a steel worker for Republic and WCI Steel.
He was a member of the Mineral Ridge Church of Christ where he served as deacon and greeter. He was also active in the Niles McKinley #794 Masonic Lodge serving as Past Master, was a 32nd degree Mason of the Valley of Youngstown Scottish Rite, a member of the Al Koran of Cleveland, and the Youngstown Shrine Club.
He was also a member of the Trumbull Travelers and a former volunteer firefighter for the Mineral Ridge Fire Department.
Bob will be sadly missed by his wife the former Charlee Guy, whom he married June 14, 1969 and with whom he spent 44 wonderful years together, one daughter: Sally (Mark) Phillips and their children Maxwell and Avery of Stow; one brother Richard (Libby) Stone of Brimfield; three nephews; four nieces; and one great niece.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, a half brother Robert Stone and one nephew.
Friends may call from 4 pm until 7 pm Thursday at the Lane Family Funeral Home Mineral Ridge Chapel where a Masonic Service will take place at 6:45 pm, and from 10 am until 11 am Friday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Macula Vision Research Foundation (MVRF), 100 Front St. Ste 300, West Conshohocken, PA 19428 in Bob's name.
