Alcena Habeger

Canfield- Alcena Habeger, age 97 formerly of Canfield died Tuesday evening at Meridian Arms Care Center in Youngstown. Alcena was born Aug. 9, 1912 in Youngstown and was the daughter of the late William and Roenna (Shafer) Gardner. She had been a homemaker and a member of Faith Community Covenant Church, Parkview Rebekah Lodge #719 in Canfield and a 1933 graduate of Francis Payne Boltin Nursing School where she received her R.N. degree. Her husband Donald H. Habeger whom she married Nov. 1, 1940 died Nov. 8, 1999. She is survived by four children David (Kathy) Habeger of Mantua, OH, William (Barbara) Habeger of Austintown, Donald (Kathy) Habeger of Ellsworth and Laura (Jack) Barton of Austintown. She also leaves 10 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a sister Algia Berlin, two grandsons David and James Habeger and a great grandson Brandon Habeger. The family requests that material contributions be made to Hospice of the Valley. There are no calling hours and memorial services will be held at a later date.
