.YOUNGSTOWN--Prayers will begin at 9:15 a.m. on Wednesday at Lane Funeral Home, Canfield Chapel followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Saint Christine Church at 10 a.m. for Alice Honora Morrison Fox, 94 who died at noon on Wednesday, April 1 at the Inn At Christine Valley where she resided for about 15 months. Alice was born on December 3, 1920, a daughter of Francis and Veronica Rochford Morrison, in Youngstown and was a lifelong resident. She was a 1939 graduate of Ursuline High School and attended grade school at Saint Patrick Elementary School in Youngstown. Alice worked in the office at Automatic Sprinkler Corporation after graduating from high school. After raising her family, Alice went back to work with her husband at Fox Funeral Home serving as the office manager from the early 1970s into the 1980s. She retired in 1985 to travel and help care for her daughter, Julie Fox Hammar. Her husband, John E. Fox, whom she married on November 25, 1944, died November 14, 1995. Alice and John were charter members of Saint Christine Parish, having hosted the first two meetings for the creation of the new parish in their home on Normandy Drive. John and Alice were members of a veterans committee that developed the Kirkmere Homes neighborhood and were members of the St. Christine Church and School Building Committee. She was a member of the Colony Club, the Caprice Club, Ursuline 1939 Reunion Committee, and a former member of Tippecanoe Country Club. She leaves four daughters: Donna Fox of Mesa, AZ, Molly Simstad of Austintown, Alice Fox of Atlanta, GA and Martha Baytos and her husband, Jeffrey of Monroe, GA, her son, Edward J. Fox and his wife, Nancy of Canfield; a son-in-law, Jerry Hammar and his wife, Sheila of Hudson, OH; a brother, Donald Morrison, of Claremont, CA; two sisters-in-law: Mary Morrison of Ghanna, OH and Nancy Fox of Boardman; ten grandchildren: Martha and Graham Corneck, Mary Phillips, Joseph and Laura Phillips, Stephanie Hammar and Mark Nelson, Lindsay Simstad, Megan Simstad (fiance Richard Giavonette), Nicole Fox, Natalie Fox, Noelle Fox and Carly and Ryan Jewett; six great grandchildren: Colin, Sarah and Brendan Corneck, Nathan Phillips and Roch and Beau Jewett; and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews. The family would like to thank the staff of the Inn At Christine Valley and Hospice for the excellent care shown to their mother. A special thanks to Cathy Arlotta for the love and special friendship she provided to Alice. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Julie Fox Hammar, an infant son, John Edward, two sons-in-law, Joseph Phillips and Barry Simstad, five brothers, Robert, Leo, Francis, Michael and John Paul Morrison. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesdayfrom 4 to 7 p.m. Material tributes may take the form of donations to either Hospice of the Valley, St. Christine Church Building Fund or Angels for Animals.
