Alice Mae Withrow

Alice Mae Withrow of Lakewood, OH, formerly of Sharon, PA and Winter Haven, FL. She died at 2:30 AM Monday at Grace Hospital in Lakewood. She was 71. Mrs. Withrow was born in Sharon, PA on August 7, 1934, a daughter of Robert and Viola King Jewel. Alice enjoyed camping, fishing, dancing and singing. She was also an excellent cook, loved animals, had several pets and bred tropical birds. She was employed at Walker China, where she made fine china; Kimble’s where she made eye glasses; Royal Castle, where she was a waitress; and Jolly Times Tavern where she ran the kitchen. Her first husband, Andrew Russo, passed away in 1982. Alice’s second husband, Hobert Withrow passed away Dec. 2, 1986. Survivors include: 5 children, Sherry Russo; Andrew Russo Jr. and his fiancée Cindy Golden of Cleveland, OH; Alicia and her husband Rodney Chapman of PA; Maria and her husband Herbert Preston of Drift, KY; and Paula and her husband Leonard Gavlen of Cleveland, OH; 2 brothers, Robert, Jr. and his wife Irene Jewel of Hermitage, PA; and Gerald and his wife Jackie Jewel of Sharon, PA; 12 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: her parents; 1 son, Ross Russo; 2 grandchildren; 3 brothers, Edward, Vincent and William Jewel; 5 sisters, Bertha Jewel, Arlene Myers, Ella Nora Myers, Sarah Black and Helen Evans. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday at the Madasz Funeral Chapel, Brookfield, with Pastor Tom Morgan of Sharon Baptist Church. Calling hours will be from 4:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday at the funeral chapel. Burial will be in Brookfield Twp. Cemetery.
