Alma F. Mitchell YOUNGSTOWN- Funeral Services will be held at 10am on Sat. Dec. 13, 2014 at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Canfield for Alma F. Mitchell, 96 who died Tuesday evening at Briarfield Manor. Alma was born August 21, 1918 in Eagle, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Forrest and Carmen (Darlington) Grigsby. Mrs. Mitchell graduated from Struthers High School in 1937. She was a life -long member of Smith Corners United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school for 35 years. She served as the treasurer of Sunday school and was secretary of the churches administrative council since 1955. She was also the past president of the United Methodist Women's circle. She leaves behind her three children Harry (Tina) Mitchell of Canfield, Sharyn Staffrey of Canfield and Carolyn Newell of Tennessee, grandchildren Terry(Marge)Davis of New Mexico, Crystal (Randy) Weber of FL, Kelly (Gary) Peck of Austintown, Dean (Karen) Mitchell of Cleveland, Curtis (Jenine) Mitchell of Austintown, Chayne(Jackie) Mitchell of Lake Milton, Kim Ilgenfritz of Canfield and Leonard Staffrey of Austintown, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild, sister Anna Louise Heeter of Youngstown and brother Jerry Grigsby of Cleveland as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Harry E. Mitchell who died in 1993, son Curtis Mitchell, four brothers and one sister. Friends and family may call on Friday Dec. 12, 2014 from 4-7pm at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Canfield. The family would like to thank the staff of the Inn at Christine Valley and Briarfield Manor for the care that they provided.
