Lake Milton- Funeral services will be held at 11 am Saturday at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel for Al Baker who died Tuesday morning at his residence. Al was born April 26, 1929 in Pittsburgh, PA. the son of Alois and Mary (Burke) Baker and moved to Lake Milton over 50 years ago. Al was very active in his community, serving many years on the Farmer’s National Bank Advisory Board, established the first Lake Milton/Craig Beach Library in 1960 and was on the committee for present library in Craig Beach, was one of the founders and served many years as President of the Lake Milton Improvement Association, was one the founders and Directors of the Lake Milton Association, served 20 years on the Jackson Milton School district’s O.W.E. Program, served five years as President of the Jackson Milton Athletic Boosters Club and various other committees of the club, was inducted as a member of the Jackson Milton Hall of Fame. Al also was a Cub Master for four years for the Cub Scouts of America and was a Committee Chairman for four years for the Boy Scouts of America. He is presently serving his second term as a Trustee for Lake Milton, was on the committee for making the Blue Jay Water Tower project happen, served two years in the US Army, Fifth Infantry Division and was a member of American Legion Post 737. He developed the Baker Enterprise Company along with his brothers, which developed three major developments. He was also involved in real estate and insurance with the Baker, Moore, Baker Company for over 50 years. Al is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ruth (Miller) Baker whom he married in 1951, children; Gary (Charlene) Baker and grandchildren Carli and Jamie, Lory (Ken) Shively and grandchildren Jessica and David all of Lake Milton, brother; Ron of Cortland and sister Mary Jane (Chuck) Beight of Lake Milton. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Tom and Robert. Family and friends may call from 3-7 pm Friday at the funeral home. The family requests that memorial contributions take the form of donations to the Jackson Milton School District/Sports Complex, 14110 Mahoning Ave. North Jackson, Ohio 44451 in Al’s name.
