Ann Catherine Vail

Ann Catherine Vail, of Austintown, passed away at 4:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 15, 2010 in Omni Manor Care Center. She was 90 years old. Mrs. Vail was born on January 9, 1920 in Oil City, PA the daughter of the late Thaddeus and Catherine Kukla and came to the Mahoning Valley in 1959. Mrs. Vail retired in 1985 after working in Food Services for 27 years at St. Elizabeth Hospital. She enjoyed playing cards and bingo. Mrs. Vail was of the Catholic faith and was married on May 19, 1942 to George R. Vail and he preceded her in death on May 28, 1972. Surviving Mrs. Vail are three children Mary Ann (Steve) Donchatz of Girard, Ohio, Carol (Tony) Masiello of Tennessee and George (Janet) Vail of Austintown; a sister Helen Blair of Erie, PA; a brother Stanley Kukla of Oil City, PA; eight grandchildren Theresa House, Stephen Donchatz, John and Jim Yasechko, Michelle Page, Kellie Fabian, Brian and Kevin Vail; and eighteen great grandchildren. Besides her parents and husband, Ann was preceded in death by three brothers John, Ed and Ted Kukla; two sisters Mary Mancuso and Stella Fedorak and a grandson Michael Yasechko. Calling Hours will take place on Monday, September 20, 2010 from Noon to 1:00 p.m. in the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel. A Funeral Service will take place on Monday, September 20, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home. The family would like to thank all of the staff of the east wing at Omni Manor and to Hospice of the Valley for all of the care that they gave to Ann and her family in their time of need.
