Anne Marie Urda

Anne Marie (Golias) Urda, age 86, of Cortland passed away Sunday June 17, 2012 at her residence after a lengthy illness. She was born December 27, 1925, in Sharon, Pa, the daughter of the late Matthew and Elizabeth (Machusko) Golias. She married Thomas Urda on May 19, 1952. He preceded her in death on June 4, 1981. Mrs. Urda was a member of St. Robert's Catholic Church in Cortland where she was an active member of the Ladies Guild. She was an active member of the Kinsman Senior Citizens Organization and several other senior citizen groups. She had worked as a cook for many years at Lakeview High School and was the lead cook for Servomation at Packard Electric. Mrs. Urda enjoyed life and spending time with family friends and special neighbors. She loved cooking, playing cards, traveling and attending reunions. Mrs. Urda is survived by children, Gary T. Urda of Edmond, Ok, Connie L. (Gary) Travers of Surprise, Az, and John S. (Yong) Urda of Ashburn, Va. Grandchildren, Michelle (Brent) Scamehorn of Lincoln, Ne, Shannon Urda of Oklahoma City, Ok, Robert Travers of Scottsdale, Az, Mandi Travers of Surprise, Az, Ashley Urda of Ashburn, Va and sister Marcella Pelsh of Hermitage, Pa. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Edward and John Golias. The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 21, 2012 from 6 -8 pm at Shafer-Winans Chapel in Cortland, and 1 hour prior to the 11 am service on Friday, June 18, 2012, at St. Robert's Catholic Church in Cortland. Father Carl Kish will officiate. Interment will be in All Souls Cemetery, Cortland.
