Anthony Phillip Davis

Anthony Phillip "Tony" Davis, 56 of Cortland, passed away Sunday morning, April 11, 2010 in St. Joseph Health Center after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Born in Mecca Twp. on March 1, 1954, Tony was the son of the late Phillip Roy Davis and Catherine (Grayson) Davis of Mecca Twp. Tony graduated in 1972 from Maplewood High School and was retired from Copperweld Steel Corp. where he worked as a heavy equipment operator for 28 years. Throughout the years, he was employed by Penske Trucking as a hiker, Mecca Township where he worked in maintenance, he was a Trumbull County Sheriff's Deputy as part of the mounted unit, and also worked as a banquet coordinator and food and beverage manager at the Holiday Inn Metroplex in Liberty. Tony was member of the Cortland Moose Lodge No. 1012, was active with the 4H Club as an equestrian leader for 22 years, and raised and bred horses for 30 years. His second greatest love was the game of golf. Tony will be dearly missed by his loving companion Beverly J. Leet of Mecca Twp., his mother Catherine Davis also of Mecca Twp., three brothers Joseph (Nancy) Davis of FL, Phillip Davis and Thomas (Crystal) Davis both of Mecca Twp, and also by his three horses "Snooky", "Rosie" and "Libby" and two cats "Joey" and "Callie" who he adored. According to Tony's wishes cremation will take place and a wake will be held Friday afternoon, April 16, 2010 where family and friends may visit from 12PM until 4PM at the Cortland Moose Lodge No. 1012 located at 6400 State Route 46 Cortland, OH 44410. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Roberts-Clark Funeral Chapel.
