Arnold H. Leyshon

Deerfield- Funeral services will be held at 11 am Monday at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel for Arnold Leyshon who died Thursday evening. Arnold H. Leyshon or Arnie as he was known, was born in Youngstown, Ohio on Sept 8, 1920 to John Henry and Mary Maud (Jones) Leyshon. He married his wife of more than 53 yrs, H. Patricia (Dahlgren) Leyshon on Aug 22, 1946, who passed away on March 23, 2000. They had a daughter, Karen Leyshon Ramsey Grittie. He formed a great friendship with his son-in-law, Haven Grittie, who took him to doctor's appointments and side trips on the way home. He was very proud of all of his grandsons Rob & Sherry Ramsey of Deerfield who live with and cared for him, Jeff and Kira Ramsey of Ellsworth and Tim & Angie Ramsey also of Ellsworth. His great-grandchildren, Nicole & Brandon Janis, Rylie Ramsey of Deerfield, Luke, Kylee, Brooke and Alton Ramsey of Ellsworth, were his joy. He is also survived by a brother Lawrence Leyshon of Homosassa Springs, Fl. a sister, Rienette Diller of St. Louis, MO., and numerous nieces' and nephews.Arnie was a man of many facets. He was the pitcher on the first baseball team at Chaney High School. He was a veteran of WWII, having received 2 Bronze stars. He was a member of Carpenters Local 171. As a master carpenter he built his two homes, as well as many school projects with his grandsons. He worked for Murphy Construction, Adolph Johnson, And Ivan Law. He loved to swim, water ski, tell stories, talk politics and garden. Arnie had an attraction to Berlin Reservoir. Before entering the Army, Arnie worked on the construction of Berlin Reservoir 1942, then in 1959 he and his wife purchased his home in Deerfield on Berlin Reservoir. He worked as a maintenance man and dam operator at Berlin Reservoir from 1975 to his retirement in 1985.He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, an infant daughter, Patricia Marie and a son-in-law, David Ramsey.
