Arthur Merle Evans

Arthur Merle Evans, of Vienna, passed away at 12:32 PM Monday, March 30, 2009 in the emergency room of Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital. Art was 93. Art was born April 17, 1915 in Sebring, Ohio the son of the late David J. and Juliette (Brittan) Evans. He was a graduate of Sebring High School and received a Bachelors Degree from Mt. Union College in Alliance. Art retired in 1979 from the Mathews Local School System where he was a bus driver for 25 years. He also worked at Truscon Steel and was a mail carrier for the Vienna Post Office. Art was a veteran of the United States Army and served his country during World War II. Art was of the Methodist faith and was a faithful member of the Vienna United Methodist Church where he sang in the men’s choir. Art belonged to the Ohio Rural Letter Carriers Association, he was a Boy Scout and Explorer Leader and he was a former member of the Methodist Church Bowling League in Vienna. Art enjoyed Square dancing and gardening. Art was married on February 14, 1942 to the former Bernice A. “Bunny” McDonald and they were married for 65 years until her passing on October 10, 2007. Art is survived by five children Robert (Betty) Evans of Kinsman, Arlene “Sue” Evans of Kinsman, Donald Evans of Ostrander, OH, Judy (Steve) Stefanik of Vienna and Gary (Sue) Evans also of Vienna; ten grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. Besides his parents and wife, Art was preceded in death by a brother David Evans and sisters Wilma Erhart and Vada Mihaloew. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, April 5, 2009 from 2 to 4 PM in the Lane Funeral Homes Madasz Chapel, Brookfield and again on Monday, April 6, 2009 from 10-10:30AM in the church. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, April 6, 2009 at 10:30AM in the Vienna United Methodist Church 4265Warren Sharon Road, Vienna. Burial with full military honors will follow in Vienna Township Cemetery.
