He was a > member of the Nu Sigma Nu Fraternity, Beta Tau Chapter. While at > O.S.U. he met the love of his life, Donna Lee Ankrom of Chillicothe, > Ohio and they married on September 21, 1957. > > Dr. Brucoli completed his internship at Youngstown Hospital > Association in 1960, then served two years in the United States Air > Force in San Antonio, Texas and Sacramento, California where he > attained the rank of Captain, serving as a flight medical officer and > flight surgeon. He completed his residency in pediatrics at Buffalo > Children's Hospital. After a year of private practice in Hamburg, NY, > he returned home to Youngstown and set up his private practice on > Mahoning Avenue in 1965. > > Dr. Brucoli was a member of the Mahoning County Medical Society where > he served as President in 1980 and Public Relations Director in 1982. > He also served on the executive committee of the Youngstown Hospital > Association and was Chief of Pediatrics at Tod Babies and Children's > Hospital. He was a clinical instructor for medical students at > Northeastern Universities College of Medicine the first year NEOUCOM > students were affiliated with Youngstown hospitals. Pat was a > diplomate of American Board of Pediatrics, a Fellow of American > Academy of Pediatrics, and a member of the Ohio State and American > Medical Societies. He was a Life Member of The Ohio State > University's Presidents Club, served on the Canfield Local Schools > Board of Education for 20 years (1973-1993) and was a member of the > Canfield United Methodist Church. > > In 1993, Pat retired from active practice of pediatrics, which allowed > him to spend more time with his family. He enjoyed "quiet hobbies" of > tending to his large aquariums of tropical fish, growing tomatoes in > his garden, raising orchids in his greenhouse and photography. As a > devout Buckeye football fan, he was proud of the OSU memorabilia he > collected over the years. Pat derived the most joy spending time with > his wife, children and grandchildren at "the farm," a park-like > property that he purchased and developed over the years by planting > trees, landscaping with flowers and fountains, and stocking the > man-made pond with enough bass and bluegill to satisfy his love for > fishing.
