Barbara Beverly Knight

Barbara Beverly (Bora) Knight, 84 of Mecca formerly of Providence, Rhode Island passed away at 10:04pm Wednesday September 23, 2009 at Trumbull Memorial Hospital. She was born in Providence on June 27, 1925, the daughter of George F. W. and Angela (Norton) Bora. Barbara worked in the accounts receivable department for John R. Hess & Son Chemical Co. in Cranston, Rhode Island for 20 years, retiring June, 1990 and also was an active member of Washington Park Methodist Church. Moving to the area in October 1990, Barbara was a member of West Mecca United Methodist Church. She made sure to attend as many sporting events to support her grandchildren as she could; going to as many as two soccer games in the same afternoon. Family and her church were the most important to her. She will sadly be missed by her two children; Dr. William (Margaret) Knight III of North Scituate, RI and Pamela (John) Himes of Mecca Twp.; four grandchildren; John W., Weston, Amanda, and Laura and four great grandchildren Bryson, Morgan, Brooks, and Scott. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband William Knight Jr., whom she married May 29, 1945. Funeral Services will be held Saturday September 26, 2009 at West Mecca United Methodist Church at 4pm. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service time at the church.
