Barbara Montgomery

Barbara Montgomery of Brookfield, diest at 8:37 PM Friday at her residence. She was 79. Mrs. Montgomery was born in Mansfield, OH on October 13, 1925, a daughter of Andrew and Grace Everett Reimer. Barbara made bombs at the Niles Steel Products during WWII, she worked for the Brookfield Board of Education, she worked for the board of elections and was a Girl Scout Leader. She was a member of the Brookfield Christian Church. A 50 year plus member of the Brookfield Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary, and served on various committtees as well as past treasurer. She belonged to the Masury VFW Post 8860 where she served as a Vice President and President. She was also a member of the Hartford Chapter #518 order of the Easter Star. She also loved gardening in her spare time. Her husband, Hays Montgomery, whomshe married November 9, 1949, died December 1, 2003. Survivors include: 6 children, Carolyn and her husband Bill Indrick of Kirkwood, NY, Raella and her husband Ralph Baker of Brookfield, OH, Deborah and her husband Jim Gray of Brookfield, OH Hope and her husband Mark Wheeler of Boardman, OH Gary and his wife April Montgomery of Switzerland, FL and Hays and his wife Lisa Montgomery of Naperville, IL. 12 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: her parents; 1 sister Sally Haller. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday at the Brookfield Christian Church, Brookfield, with Rev. Dan Hockenberry. Burial will be in Brookfield Township Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to Brookfield Ladies Auxiliary or Sharon Hospice.
