Beatrice Agnes Turner

Beatrice A. (Tabacco) Turner, age 84, of Warren, died at noon Thursday, December 31, 2009, at Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital. She was born March 9, 1925 in Warren the daughter of the late Achille "Nick" and Elodia (DiGregoria) Tabacco. She was a lifetime Warren resident and she and her husband, Joe, had spent winters in Moorehaven, Florida for several years. Beatrice was a 1944 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School, where she was a majorette. She worked for over 25 years as a waitress at the El Rio Restaurant. Beatrice was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and a lifetime member and past president of the VFW Post 1090 Ladies' Auxiliary, where she and her husband had been active visiting the veterans hospitals. Beatrice also had volunteered at the veterans clinic in Youngstown, until recently. She also had served as a volunteer for many years with the American Cancer Society. She worked as a poll worker with the Trumbull County Board of Elections and was a member of the American Businesswomen's Association. Beatrice loved spending time with her family, being a loving wife, mother and homemaker and enjoyed cooking. She also loved her dogs. Beatrice was preceded in death August 24, 1997 by her husband of 51 1/2 years, Joseph W. Turner, whom she married January 26, 1946. One son, Joseph F. Turner VI; her parents; her stepmother, Philomena Aimol Tabacco; one brother, Albert (Donna) Tabacco and one sister, Alda (Mike) Roberts also have preceded her in death. She is survived by two daughters, Nancy Lee Turner of Warren and Elizabeth "Betsy" (Steven) Dalrymple of Howland and three sisters, Ergomine (Roland) Iannucci of Warren, Jennie (Rocky) Soriano of Niles and Elisa Walush of Denver. Arrangements are being handled by Roberts-Clark Funeral Chapel in Warren, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Monday and Tuesday morning from 9 to 10. VFW Post 1090 Ladies Auxiliary will hold services at the funeral home Monday evening. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church at 10:30 am Tuesday, January 5, 2010, with Rev. Bernard Schmalzried celebrating the mass. Burial will be at Hawley Cemetery in Paris Township, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
