Bernard A. Sears

Funeral services will be held at 11am Tuesday in the Lane Funeral Home Mineral Ridge Chapel for Bernard A. Sears, 75, who died Friday morning at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Youngstown. He was born January 15, 1934 in Webster County, WVa, a son of Dana and Myrtle (Perkins) Sears, and he came to this area as a teenager. He worked as a line operator for Packard Electric for 35 years before retiring in 1990. He was an avid golfer. He was also a Cleveland Browns fan and a faithful and devoted supporter of the West Virginia Mountaineers. After his retirement from Packard, he and his wife relocated to Myrtle Beach for fourteen years where he enjoyed riding around in his golf cart and greeting his friends and neighbors until returning to the area in 2005. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, the former Norma Jean Sell, whom he married June 13, 1953. He also leaves behind five sons; Douglas (Joy) Sears of Niles; Bradley, Rodney, Steven, and Timothy Sears all of Girard; a brother Joseph (Martha) Sears of Mineral Ridge; a sister Jeanne (Bill) Renshaw of Farmington, WVa; eleven grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Beulah Knestrick. Friends may call from 5-8pm Monday at the funeral home.
