Bertha Jeannetta Barton

Bertha J. Barton, of Canfield, passed away at 9:51PM Monday, February 22, 2010 in her home. She was 90. Bertha was born February 6, 1920 in Clinton, Pennsylvania the only daughter of the late J. Frank and Marguerite Estelle (Morgan) Wilson and came to Ohio from Aliquippa, PA 46 years ago. Bertha was a 1938 graduate of Findlay High School and a graduate of New Brighton School of Nursing. Bertha traveled with her husband, Bill, as he served in World War II and was a nurse in various place during the war. After moving to Ohio, she was a registered nurse and nursing home administrator with Sleighbell Residence and Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Home, retiring in 1983. Bertha was a member of Canfield Presbyterian Church since 1964 and was a member of the Coachmen Chapter 44 for 24 years. She knitted and crocheted avidly and enjoyed gardening and traveling with her husband. Bertha is survived by her husband William "Bill" A. Barton whom she married on May 29, 1942; four daughters Margaret "Margae" J. (David) Collins of Aliquippa, PA, Elizabeth "Betty" J. Kramer of Mineral Ridge, Wilma (Don) Matthews of Cottonwood, CA and Ruth (Patrick) Plott of Rock Hill, SC; a sister-in-law Eleanor Flowers of West Covina, CA; twelve grandchildren and twenty one great grandchildren. Besides her parents, Bertha was preceded in death by a son-in-law Gary Kramer. Calling hours will take place on Sunday, February 28, 2010 from 2 until 4PM in the Lane Funeral Home Canfield Chapel, 65 N. Broad St, Canfield, Ohio, 44406. A Funeral service will take place on Monday, March 1, 2010 at 11AM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions take the form of donations to either Southern Care Hospice, 5401 Ashley Circle, Austintown, Ohio, 44515 or to the Alzheimer's Association, 3695 Boardman Canfield Road, Boardman, Ohio, 44512.
