Betty L. Clement, 77, of Howland Twp. died at her home 10:15 AM Monday July 24, 2006 following a lengthy illness. She was born in the Sharon area July 15, 1929, the daughter of Norman and Elizabeth (Kocis) Mook. A lifetime Howland Twp.resident, she graduated from Howland High School in 1947. Betty then graduated from the Trumbull Memorial Hospital School of Nursing and worked briefly at Toledo Hospital before returning to TMH to ultimately become head nurse on 2-west. After starting a family, she helped out at her parents’ store, Mook’s Dairy, at the corner of Elm Rd. and Weir Rd. She then became a school nurse for Howland Schools and returned to Youngstown State University part-time to obtain a Bachelors degree in education in 1975 and worked a total of 29 years for Howland Schools as a nurse and health teacher retiring in 1989. She also attended Kent State University and the University of Akron. She was an active Red Cross Volunteer and received at national Red Cross award for her many years of service. She is a member of SS. Cyril and Methodius Church, the Alumnae of the TMH School of Nursing, Friends of the Warren Library, was a former Cub Scout den mother, and for many years was the band camp nurse for the Howland HS Band. Betty enjoyed playing putt-putt golf, bridge, and was an avid sports fan especially of Ohio State, the Browns, and Tiger Woods. She loved to travel to Williamsburg, VA. She was instrumental in planning all of her high school class reunions. Survivors include her husband of 55 years Don P. Clement whom she married Oct.28, 1950, 2 sons David L. Clement and wife Lou of Anniston, AL, Gary P. Clement and wife Teresa of Warren, 4 grandchildren Holly (Dan) Lazor of Cincinnati, OH, Courtney, Cory, and Mackenzie Clement of Warren and a great grandson Kirby Lazor. She also leaves a brother Jerry (Linda ) Mook of Merritt Island, FL. Friends will be received Friday July 28, 2006 from 12:00-2:00PM at Roberts-Clark Chapel. Rev. James Walker will conduct a mass of Christian burial 2:30 PM Friday at SS. Cyril and Methodius Church. Interment will be in All Souls Cemetery.
