Betty Elizabeth Young

Betty Young, age 79 of Mecca Township, on Monday morning, December 8, 2014 peacefully became heaven's newest angel, surrounded by her loving family at her home. She was a loving and wonderfully caring person to everyone who touched her life. She was born May 1, 1935 in West Freedom, Pa the daughter of the late Louis and Inez Boyd Clawson. She worked for 10 years as a meat cutter at A&P Grocery Stores in the Youngstown area. Betty was a member of the Cortland United Methodist Church. She loved spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren. Betty is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Donald E. Young, whom she married August 5, 1952; five children, Mike and Jim Young, Gale (Walter) Hughes, Sally Kobel and Barb Warminski; eleven grandchildren, Michael, Jess, Jen, Joe, Alyson, Amy, Karl, Billy, Elizabeth, Nick and Tiffany; six great grandchildren, Taylor, Hunter, Claire, Cole, Case and Addison and one sister, Delores Callendar. Besides her parents, one son, Joe Young and one great grandson, Noah all have preceded her in death. The funeral service will be at noon Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at Cortland United Methodist Church, where the family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Pastor David Vensel will officiate. Burial will be at Greenhaven Memorial Gardens in Canfield. Arrangements were entrusted to Lane Family Funeral Homes, Shafer-Winans Chapel in Cortland. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the memorial fund at the Cortland United Methodist Church.
