Betty J. Craig

Indiana, PA- Betty J. Craig formerly of Brookfield, OH passed away peacefully Monday morning June 30, 2014 at Beacon Ridge Nursing Home in Indiana, PA. She was 92 years old. She was born in Sydney, PA the daughter of Orrie L. and Violet (Fisher) Bowman on May 24, 1922. She married Delmar Preston Craig on January 17, 1940 and together they had three children Lee, Rusty, and Karen. Betty retired from Brookfield Local Schools where she had worked as a cafeteria worker in various buildings throughout the district and had also worked at Clarks Diner. She was a member of the Brookfield Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and the Brookfield United Methodist Church. She enjoyed crafting, ceramics, baking, music, and bowling. She leaves behind her daughter-in-laws Dianne Dougan of Brushvalley, PA and Sylvia Craig of Hermitage, PA; sister-in-law Louise Bowman of Indiana, PA and brother-in-law Bruce Wheeler of Sharpsville, PA; three grandchildren Michele Runyan of Sharpsville, PA, Douglas P. Craig of Indiana, PA, and Roxy Craig of Homer City, PA; five great-grandchildren Ashlee, Cory, Samantha, Martin, and Addalynne; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Pres on July 14, 1984, her three children Martin "Lee" Craig, Delmar "Rusty" Craig, and Karen Craig; her granddaughter Tina Duncan; and by her siblings Virginia, Lillian, Hazel, Orrie, and Sam. Funeral services will be held at noon on Thursday July 3, 2014 at Madasz Chapel of Lane Family Funeral Homes 6923 Warren-Sharon Road Brookfield, OH 44403. Friends may call beginning at 10:00AM until the start of the services at noon. Burial will take place next to her husband at the Brookfield Township Cemetery. In lieu flowers, the family asks that any contributions be made to either the American Diabetes Association or to the American Heart Association.
