Funeral services will be held at 11 am Tuesday at the Lane Funeral Home Canfield Chapel for Betty Burkey who died Friday at her residence. Betty was born February 3, 1925 in Niles the daughter of Steve and Anna (Demes) Tutor and was a life long area resident. Betty was a member of Highway Tabernacle Church where she helped with Bible School for many years. She retired from Wean United which was formerly McKay Machine when she started, where she had been an Accounting clerk for 29 years. During WWII Betty was a long distance telephone operator. Betty loved the Canfield Fair, attending everyday, she worked at the Craft Barn for many years. Her hobbies included doing crafts, cooking and reading her Bible. She had formerly been a member of the Miriam Chapter O.E.S. Betty is survived by her husband of 50 years Oscar Burkey whom she married February 14, 1958, sons; Richard and Bruce Burkey both in Las Vegas, sisters; Margaret (Hank) Mazur and Dorothy Mounger both in Florida. She is also survived by her grandsons; Ronnie and Ritchie and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Betty was preceded in death by her parents. Family and friends may call from 5-8 pm Monday and from 10-11 am Tuesday prior to funeral services at the funeral home. The family requests that memorial contributions take the form of donations to Highway Tabernacle Church.
