Funeral services will be held at 11am Saturday at the First Federated Church in North Jackson for Betty Jane Metzler, 89, who died Wednesday afternoon at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Youngstown. She was born November 21, 1920 in North Jackson, a daughter of Nelson and Wilhelmina "Minnie" (Tessean) Keck, and she resided in this area all of her life. She was a 1938 graduate of Jackson High School and she spent most of her adult life as a homemaker raising and caring for her family. She had previously worked for the Don Booth Co., Seems Golden Dawn, General Electric in Warren, and as a cook for General Motors Lordstown. She was a member of the First Federated Church. She was also a member of the Child Conservation League, the Lake Milton Women's Association, the Girl Scouts where she served as a leader, and she enjoyed cooking and boating on the lake. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Loy R. Metzler, whom she married September 6, 1941. She also leaves behind a daughter, Barbara Adair of Boardman; a son, William Metzler of Lake Milton; a grandson, Brad (Kristin) Adair of Westerville; a great grandson, Nicholas; and a brother, Theodore Keck of Austintown. She was preceded in death by four brothers; Bill, Howard, Lee, and Noble Keck; and two sisters; Edna Campbell and Ruth Rhoades. Friends may call for one hour prior to services from 10-11am Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to the First Federated Church in Betty's memory.
