Bonnie Lee Shepherd

Bonnie Lee (Holmes) Shepherd, 70, passed away at home surrounded by her family on Wednesday, August 5, 2015. She was born on September 1, 1944, in Youngstown, OH, daughter to the late William and Leona (Deets) Holmes. Bonnie attended Girard High School. On September 10, 1960, she married her loving husband of nearly 55 years, Thomas R. Shepherd Sr. Together they were foster parents to many babies and children throughout the 1970's. Bonnie enjoyed gardening and going to garage sales, as well as meeting up with her card club ladies at Denny's to play. She also enjoyed traveling to Ft. Meyers, Florida for vacations with her husband. She will always be remembered as a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and foster parent. Left to carry on Bonnie's memory is her husband, Thomas R. Shepherd Sr.; her daughter, Jody Shepherd; her grandchildren, Jamie (Cody Hebb) Shepherd, Matthew Simione, James Shepherd, Tom Shepherd, Tyler Shepherd, and Jeremy Shepherd; her great-grandchildren, Alyssa Shepherd, Conner Hebb, and Legend Hebb; and her sisters, Margie Kennedy and Doreen Shiley. Bonnie was preceded in death by her two sons, Tom and James Shepherd, her sister, Shirley Gonze, and her brothers, William and Raymond Holmes. The family will receive friends from 3-5PM on Saturday, August 8 at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Mineral Ridge Chapel, 1350 N. Canfield-Niles Rd. Funeral services will follow calling hours at 5PM.
