Funeral services will be held at 7:30pm Monday at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel for Byron E. Gilroy, 79, who died Friday morning at Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren. He was born August 29, 1931 in Waynesfield, a son of Theodore C. and Ruth M. (Johnson) Gilroy, and he came to this area in 1963. He was a 1949 graduate of Waynesfield High School. He worked as a packer for Packard Electric in Warren for 27 years before retiring in 1993. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps having served during the Korean conflict. He was past president of the Lordstown village council where he assisted in the formation of the village. He was also a past member of the Lordstown Lions Club. He enjoyed hunting, sports, and crossword puzzles. He married the former Dorothy B. Bingham August 28, 1954 and she preceded him in death June 14, 2004. He is survived by three sons; Dennis E. (Cheryl) Gilroy of Melbourne, FL, Randall L. Gilroy of Lordstown, and Timothy A. (Sony) Gilroy of Cuyahoga Falls. He also leaves behind a brother Ted (Peggy) Gilroy of Wapakoneta; a sister Esther M. Fett of Lima; and four grandchildren; Meghan E., Melisa A., Rebecca L., and Kevin J. Gilroy. Besides his wife he was preceded in death by his parents, and a son Kevin A. Gilroy. Friends may call from 5-7:30pm Monday evening at the funeral home. A brief graveside service will take place at 1pm Tuesday at the Willow Branch Cemetery in Waynesfield. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Gethsemane Lutheran Church Building Fund, 1110 N. Salem- Warren Rd., North Jackson, OH 44451.
