Carl J. Lumley, of Vienna, passed away at 5:05 a.m. Tuesday, December 28, 2010 in the emergency room of Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital after falling ill at home. He was 72 years old. Affectionately known as "Papp", Carl was born on May 6, 1938 in Plymouth, Pennsylvania the son of the late Emerson and Martha (O'Boyle) Lumley and was a 1956 graduate of Niles McKinley High School. Carl retired in 1998 after working for 43 years as a grinder for Copperweld Steel Corp in Champion. He was a family man and enjoyed building model cars. Carl is survived by his wife of 51 years the former Carol Reynolds whom he married on March 4, 1959 and together they shared the love of six children Cynthia (David) Gless of Niceville, FL, Carla Miller of Vienna, Crystal (Douglas) Joseph of Hilliard, Curtis Lumley of Delaware, Ohio, Cassandra (Matthew) James of Dublin and Cherlynn Lumley of Vienna; thirteen grandchildren Derek (fiance Amy Hauke) Gless, Brandy (fianc Steven Shuller) Rebecca (Lawrence) Nelson, Amanda Miller, Dana Mathis, Lisa Miller, Craig Joseph, Alyssa, Cody, Nicholas, Lauren, Taylor and Corey Lumley and by ten great grandchildren Paigelynn, Makayla, Calista, Destiny, Xavier, Kitara, Raeann, Gavin, Abigail and Logan. Carl is also survived by a brother Robert A. Lumley Sr. of Niles. Calling hours for Carl will take place on Sunday, January 2, 2011 from 2 until 4 PM in the Lane Funeral Home Mineral Ridge Chapel, 1350 N. Canfield Niles Road, Mineral Ridge, Oh 44440, where a funeral service will take place on Monday, January 3, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place in Niles City Cemetery.
