CARMEL A. MORABITO Age 91 Austintown-A Mass of Christian burial celebrating the life of Carmel Morabito will be held at 10 am Friday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Carmel was born October 18, 1922 in Youngstown, the daughter of Joseph and Sandy (Ross) Amendol and was a lifelong area resident. Carmel died peacefully Monday evening surrounded by her family. Carmel was a member of Immaculate of Mary Church, the Alter & Rosary Society of the church, Immaculate Heart of Mary Sr. Citizens, American Legion Auxiliary Post 301, and the Eagles Auxiliary Post 3298 of Austintown. She retired in 1984 from Austintown Local Schools where she had been a cafeteria worker for 21 years. She will be sadly missed by her daughter Patricia (John) Savage and son Peter (Karen) Morabito both of Austintown, sister Jean Sandora of Stewart, FL. and brother Bill Amendol of Austintown. Carmel will also be missed by her grandchildren, James (Shrividya) Morabito of Sunnyville, CA. Joseph (Shannon) Morabito of Mansfield, Melissa (Gabe) Whorten of Mineral Ridge, Jamie (Steve) Sinn of Austintown and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, James A. Morabito whom she married November 28, 1946 and who died January 1, 2006,, her twin sister Mary Pitzulo, sister, Helen Chuirazzi and brother Arthur Amendol. The Morabito family would like to thank Hospice of the Valley for their exceptional care given to Carmel.. Family and friends may call from 6-9 pm Thursday at the Austintown Chapel of Lane Family Funeral Home.
