Mass of Christian burial will be held 10 AM Saturday in St. Joseph Church for Carmen Gaglione, 88, of Austintown who passed away early Wednesday morning in St. Elizabeth Medical Center. Carmen was born January 17, 1918 in Avella, Italy the son of Carmine and Speranza (D’Avanzo) Gaglione and came to the U.S. and this area in 1955. He retired in 1982 from Youngstown Sheet and Tube after 25 years of service. Carmen served as a corporal in the Italian Army during WWII, was a member of the church and a former member of the ITAM’S post #3 in Youngstown. His wife the former Andreana Napolitano, whom he married March 18, 1945, passed away November 9, 1990. Carmen leaves two children: John C. Gaglione of Connecticut, and Hope Shepas of Austintown, one brother Giuseppe Gaglione of Avella, Italy, and four grandchildren: Bruce Shepas, Andrea (Christopher) Shepas-Arnold, Jason (Shannon) Shepas all of Austintown, and Mark (Marla) Gaglione of New Jersey, and one great grandson: Anthony Shepas. Besides his wife, two sisters: Teresa and Antonietta, and four brothers: Michele, Sabastiano, Antonio, Pasquale and two great-grandchildren: Theresa Shepas and Nathaniel Arnold are deceased. Family and friends may call from 5 to 8 PM Friday at the Lane funeral Home Austintown Chapel.
