Carol J Miller

Carol J. Miller, 76 of Champion Township, died Monday evening, January 30, 2012, at her daughter's home in Cortland. She was born July 28, 1935 in Warren, the daughter of the late Maurice K. and Edna Belle Sommers Wilcox. She was raised in Bristolville and was a Champion resident most of her life. Carol was a 1953 graduate of Bristolville High School and a 1956 graduate of the Trumbull Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as a registered nurse for many years, starting her career at Trumbull Memorial Hospital. She worked many years as a private duty nurse and later at area nursing homes and as a substitute nurse in Champion Local Schools. Carol also worked with her husband, Gene, at their West Side Furniture business. Carol was a longtime member of Champion Presbyterian Church, where she had served as a deaconess and as an officer of the Ladies Aide. She volunteered with the Red Cross at area blood drives and also volunteered at Trumbull Memorial Hospital. She enjoyed traveling with her friends and family Her husband, Eugene R. "Gene" Miller, whom she married September 15, 1956, preceded her in death in January 1996. Carol is survived by one daughter, Amy B. (Barry) Lamer of Cortland; three sons, Brian E. (Cindy) Miller of West Carrollton, Kevin B. (Laurie) Miller of Howland and Scott A. (Ellen) Miller of Doylestown; seven grandsons, Matthew (Lea) Lamer, Adam (fiancee, Rachel Hunter) Lamer, Kevin Miller, Bradley Miller, Aaron Lamer, A.J. Miller and Alex Miller and one brother, Merle (Kay) Wilcox of Empire, Michigan. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Friday at Roberts-Clark Chapel of Lane Family Funeral Homes and also one hour prior to the 11 a.m. service Saturday at Champion Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Marvin Barney will officiate. Burial will be at Sager Memorial Cemetery in Bristolville. Memorial contributions may be made to the memorial fund at Champion Presbyterian Church or to Ohio's Choice Home Care and Hospice, 1520 East Market St., Warren 44483.
