Carol Jean May

Austintown- Funeral services will be held at 11 am Saturday at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel for Carol May who died Wednesday morning in St. Elizabeth Hospital. Carol was born June 10, 1944 in Youngstown the daughter of Jack and Jean (Maurer) Wem and was a life long area resident. Carol was a member of Austintown Community Church where she had formerly been a Sunday school teacher. She was also a member of O.E.S. McKinley Chapter in Niles, she was a former Cub Scout Den Mother, Girl Scout Leader and member of the Austintown PTA. Carol enjoyed reading and traveling and had bowled in several leagues. Her greatest joy in life was being a Grandmother. Carol retired from Nova Care in June of this year where she had worked as an office manager for 18 years. Prior to Nova Care she had worked at Youngstown Welding and Engineering. She graduated from Fitch High School in 1962 and had been a member of the National Honor Society. Carol is survived by her husband Dale E. May whom she married October 26, 1963, son Christopher (Laurie) May of Boardman, daughter Tammy (Tom) Atterholt of Sharpsville, PA. sister June (Tom) Logan of Canfield and her loving grandchildren, Carter, Aidan and Kaitlyn. She was preceded in death by her parents. Family and friends may call from 5-8 pm Friday at the funeral home. The family requests that memorial contributions take the form of donations to the American Cancer Society.
