Carol Lou Gonnella Fanto of West Palm Beach, Florida, peacefully passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2006 with her daughters at her side. Carol was born in Niles, OH to the late Carl L. and Martha E. Doty Gonnella. She was a graduate of Niles McKinley High School, the Lewis Weinburger and Hill Beauty Academy, and also attended Youngstown State University. Carol was a certified swimming instructor for the Red Cross, a troop leader and camp counselor for the Girl Scouts, and a Garde Manger chef employed by the Palm Beach Country Club in Florida. Later, she worked at the South Florida Science Museum. She enjoyed swimming, reading, and travel. She was the beloved mother of Carla Fanto, Jailynne Fanto Cronin, and Bambi(Hernan) Fanto Dorantes. Carol was especially close to her loving granddaughter, Saule’ Groover. Carol will be deeply missed by her grandchildren, Saule’(Brian) Groover, Jordan, Sage, and Cruz Dorantes, great grandchildren Zena and Brian Groover, and by her long-time friends Manuel Castro, Rosemary Moran, and Lucy Simpson. She leaves to cherish her memory sister and brother-in-law JoAnne and Thomas Liptak, brother and sister-in-law Richard and Sherry Gonnella, sister, Laurene Gonnella, and many nieces and nephews. She was formerly married to Eddie Fanto and they have remained friends through out the years. Friends may call Monday from 6 to 8 PM at the Roberts-Clark Chapel and also Tuesday from 10 to 10:30AM at the funeral home. Rev. George Popovich will celebrate a mass Tuesday at 11AM at St. James Catholic Church in Warren. Burial will be held in the Niles City Cemetery, Niles. OH.
