YOUNGSTOWN- Carolyn Lee (Durkin) Rich, 73, passed away peacefully Thursday, July 14, 2016 at Hospice House after an extended illness. She was born on June 24, 1943 in Youngstown, daughter to the late James and Eva (Kamrad) Durkin. Carolyn attended Cardinal Mooney High School and graduated from South High School, class of 1961. On May 12, 1962, Carolyn married her loving husband of 54 years, Sam Rich. Carolyn was a loving and caring mother and enjoyed cooking for her family. Carolyn worked as a level 2 workshop specialist for the Mahoning County Board of Developmental Disabilities for 20 years before retiring in 2014. Carolyn was a former parishioner at St. Dominic and a current parishioner at the Cathedral of St. Columba. She was proud of her work as a judge for the polls and will also be remembered for the enjoyment she found in yardwork and taking care of her flowers. Carolyn left behind a legacy which will be proudly carried on by her family and closest friends. Her selfless lifestyle transcended the spirit of faith, love, compassion and happiness to all with whom she shared her life. The angels and saints whom look down on us from above shall be making room for our beloved wife, mother, and friend as she was truly a saint and angel herself. Left to celebrate Carolyn's life is her husband, Sam Rich; her sons, Peter Michael (Mary) Rich, Patrick Daniel Rich, and Tony Richard (Dana) Rich; her grandchildren, Chelsea Anne Rich, Maggie Rose Rich, Chance Samuel Rich, Ben August Rich, and Emma Lee Rich; and her brother, Gerald Durkin. In addition to her parents, Carolyn is preceded in death by her brother, James Durkin. The family will receive friends from 4PM-7PM on Sunday, July 17 at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel, 5797 Mahoning Ave. Mass of Christian Burial will take place 10AM on Monday, July 18 at Cathedral of St. Columba, at the corner of W.
