Carolyn W Bassett

Carolyn W. Bassett of Niles, OH died at 12:55 AM Saturday at Cleveland University Hospital. She was 85. Mrs. Bassett was born in Niles, OH on July 10, 1922, a daughter of William and Bessie Shrum Whittaker. She was a graduate of Niles McKinley High School Class of 1940, a life long member of the First United Methodist Church of Niles, where she served as a Stephen Minister; she was a past member of the Trumbull Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Survivors include: her husband, Frank Bassett, whom she married, Feb. 11, 1942; 3 children, Candyce Warnick of Naples, FL, Richard and his wife Cathy Bassett of Niles, OH, and Jeff and his wife Kelly Bassett of Naperville, IL; 8 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild. She was preceded in death by: her parents; a son, Robert Bassett; a sister Dorothy Barron. A memorial service will be held at 11 AM Wednesday at the Lane Funeral Home – Niles Chapel 415 Robbins Ave., with Dr. Rev. Oaks. Calling hours will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Niles City Cemetery.
