Catherine E. Laughlin

Funeral services will be 11 AM Wednesday at Lane Funeral Home Canfield Chapel for Catherine E. Laughlin, formerly of Westminster Ave., who passed away Sunday at Omni Manor Nursing Home. She was born August 9, 1921 in Lewistown, PA, a daughter of the late John M. and Clara (Fike) Shingler. Before coming to this area in 1950, she worked in the Hershey factory making ration bars for the soldiers of World War II. She worked as a clerk in the woman's department of the Austintown K-Mart for 23 years, attended Abundant Harvest Church in Austintown and enjoyed sewing. Her former husband John Laughlin passed away January 3, 2009. Catherine is survived by two daughters: Gloria (James) Steffey of Youngstown and Delores Laughlin of Austintown; two sisters: Mary Shingler of Lewistown, PA and Diana Reed of Lewistown; and one brother: Cloyd Shingler. Besides her parents and former husband, Catherine is preceded in death by two brothers: Wayne Shingler and John M. Shingler II.
