Catherine L. Baringer

Catherine L. Baringer--85 Salem—Private services were held at Green Haven Memorial Gardens Chapel for Catherine L. Baringer, 85 of Salem who passed away Wednesday afternoon in Salem Community Hospital. Catherine was born February 1, 1919 in Mount Vernon Ohio the daughter of John and Mary (Lewis) Newcomer. She was a longtime resident of Salem, and was a resident of Holander House for the past seventeen months. Catherine was co-owner of Baringer Auto Parts for 32 years along with her husband Virgil. She was a member of Ellsworth Presbyterian Church and a former member of the Ellsworth Fire Auxiliary as well as a homemaker. She leaves her husband Virgil E. Baringer whom she married November 10,1947, four daughters, Nancy Kirkland of Berlin Center, Sandra Mitchell of Zanesville, Cathy Logwood of Mount Vernon, and Joyce Roberts of Florida, a son Martin E. Baringer of Woodsfield, Ohio ,one sister Betty Taylor of Canfield, and a brother Harold Newcomer of Minerva. Catherine also leaves 22 grand children and 25 great-grandchildren. Three brothers Earl Kenneth and Paul Newcomer and two sisters Lela Dray and Jean Vandergrift precede Catherine in death. There are no calling hours. Arrangements were by Lane Funeral Home Canfield Chapel. The family requests that material tributes take the form of donations to the Ellsworth Presbyterian Church in Catherine name in lieu of flowers.
