Cecelia M. Swartz, 90, of Brookfield, OH, passed away early Friday morning October 15, 2010 at O'Brien Memorial Health Care Center in Masury, OH. She was born on January 14, 1920 in Sharon, PA the daughter of Henry and Myrtle E. (Gardner) Olson. Following the death of her mother, Cecelia was raised by her grandparents Joseph and Sarah Gardner and would go on to attend Brookfield Schools, and be a homemaker and mother to her family. She married Albert Swartz on June 7, 1937 and together they would share their three children as well as more than sixty-six years of marriage. Cecelia was a proud member of the Brookfield United Methodist Church where she belonged to the Altar Guild, a charter member of the Brookfield Firemen's Auxiliary and had been a former member of the Masury-Brookfield Women's Club. She was honored for her more than twenty-five years of service as an election pollworker, and had been honored 1988 by Brookfield Township for her support of the Senior Citizens Transportation program. Mrs. Swartz is survived by her three children daughters Myrtle "Traci" Downie of Masury, OH. Sarah "Sally" J. Miglesz and her husband Ron of Hubbard, OH, and her son Neil Swartz and his wife Nancy of Brookfield, OH; eight grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, her grandparents, husband Albert, and half-brother Henry Olson Jr. The family will receive friends on Sunday October 17, 2010 from 4-7:00 PM at the Madasz Funeral Chapel in Brookfield, OH. Funeral services will be held on Monday October 18, 2010 beginning at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with the Rev. Bill Johnson of the Brookfield United Methodist Church officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Brookfield Township Cemetery. The family would like to recognize the staff of the O'Brien Memorial Health Care Center and her Caregivers for the exceptional care the provided their mother during her time with them. As an expression of sympathy the family requests that contributions be made to the Brookfield Fallen Fire Fighters Foundation c/o Shenango Valley Foundation 33 Chestnut Street Sharon, PA 16146 or to the Brookfield United Methodist Church Altar Guild P.O. Box 22 Brookfield, Ohio 44403.
