Charlene Ruth Anderson

Niles-Charlene went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Friday evening. She was a woman of great faith being active in her church while fighting her battle with cancer. She found much comfort and support through "Feed My Sheep". She started the Relay for Life Team for New Hope United Methodist Church and was team captain. This year, she was the recipient of the "Spirit of Relay" award at Cortland Relay for Life. She was an avid reader and loved camping with her family. Charlene was a faithful member of New Hope United Methodist Church in Niles. She retired in Jan. 2010 from Niles City Schools after 20 years where she had been custodian. She had formerly been an L.P.N. at St. Joseph Hospital in Warren. Charlene was born Nov. 21, 1953 in New Castle and was the daughter of the late Clyde and Olive "Mittie" (Furey) Stevens. She is survived by her husband David Anderson whom she married Aug. 26, 1972 and two sons Christopher (Nicole) Anderson of Olmsted Falls and Steven (Shannon) Anderson of Austintown. She also leaves her siblings Lamont Stevens of Florida, her twin sister Marlene (Ernie) Allen of Girard, her sister-in-law Rebecca (Tony) Kavalesky of, Hubband and three grandchildren Nathan, Benjamin and Olivia Anderson. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Laverne Stevens. A Celebration of Life will be held for Charlene at New Hope United Methodist Church in Niles Tuesday evening at 7 PM. The family requests that material contributions be made to Cortland Relay for Life (Servants of Christ) c/o of New Hope United Methodist Church, 21 Fairview Ave., Niles, OH 44446 or Hospice of the Valley.
