Charles C Cunningham

Charles C. "Buzz" Cunningham, 94, passed away Friday, June 27, 2014 at the Commons of Greenbriar in Boardman, Ohio. He was born on December 15, 1919 in Warren, Ohio to the late, Charles W. and Minnie Fuller Cunningham. Buzz married his wife Mildred J. Cunningham on September 11, 1941. He retired in 1978 from Republic Steel after working for 40 years as a Superintendent. He was a member at Howland Community Church, the Elks #295, and participated in many golf leagues over the years. Buzz served in the United States Army Air Force during World War II and was awarded the Distinguished Unit Badge with one Oak Leaf Cluster and the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with ten Bronze Stars. Buzz is survived by his son, Curtiss B. Cunningham (Debra) of Boardman, Ohio; grandsons, Brent (Sara) Cunningham of Yorktown, VA, and Troy (Marla) Cunningham of Haines Port, NJ; four great grandchildren with one expected in November; and a niece Judy (Jack) Clifford. He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Mildred J. Cunningham who passed on September 11, 1996; his parents and a sister, Vesta Purser. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at the Commons of Greenbriar, the nurses Crossroads Hospice and to Ella, Dolly and Brenda Calling hours and services will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 from 11AM to 12PM with funeral services beginning at 12:00PM, at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Roberts Clark Chapel, 180 Garfield Dr NE, Warren, Ohio. Burial will follow at Crown Hill Burial Park in Vienna, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Charles C. "Buzz" Cunningham to the Crossroads Hospice, 3774 Boettler Oaks Dr, Suite E, Green, Ohio 44685.
