Charles Edward Tewksbary, age 76, of Howland Township, died Friday, November 20, 2009, at Holy Cross Hospital in Fort Lauderdale. He was born October 14, 1933 in Middleport, OH the son of the late Edward E. and Ruth R. (Grate) Tewksbary. He had been a Howland resident since 1964. He and his wife, Rita, spent their winters in Florida the past 20 years. Charlie was a 1951 graduate of Wellston (Ohio) High School and then served in the Navy during the Korean War. He received his bachelors of music degree from Ohio University in 1958 and his masters of music degree from YSU Dana School of Music in 1973. He retired in 1974 from Howland Local Schools, where he was the high school band director for 10 years. Charlie also was self employed as a piano tuner for many years. He was a member of Living Lord Lutheran Church in Howland and First Presbyterian Church of Ft. Lauderdale, where he sang in the choir. Charlie was a member of the W.D. Packard Band for 25 years and a member of the Top Notes. He was an avid Bridge player and loved sailing and boating. He is survived by his wife Rita F. (Clark) Tewksbary, whom he married May 7, 1955; two daughters, Rebecca L. (Brad) Bickel of Cortland and Lenora Sue Tewksbary of Mentor; one son, David E. (Elizabeth) Tewksbary of Bolton, Mass.; eleven grandchildren, Scott (Elizabeth) Bickel, Jeffrey Bickel, Ryan Davanzo, Sara Wheelock, Justin Kalenits, Brenda Peloquin, Sarah and Matthew Brooks and James Robert and Natalie Tewksbary; four great grandchildren, Grant, Chloe, Jeremy and Cody and one brother, Tom (Katie) Tewksbary of Zanesville. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Arrangements are being handled by Roberts-Clark Funeral Chapel in Warren, where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm Tuesday. Funeral services will be at Living Lord Lutheran Church at 11:00 am Wednesday, November 25, 2009, preceded by an hour of calling hours. Rev. Jaclyn Gasior will be officiating. Burial will be at Crown Hill Burial Park in Vienna, where military honors will be held. Memorial contributions may be made to the Living Lord Lutheran Church Music Dept. and Organ Fund or the American Red Cross Trumbull County Chapter.
