Services will be 11 AM Friday in Immanuel Lutheran Church for Charles Elliot Jacobs, 87 of Austintown who passed away Sunday evening in Briarfield Manor Care Center. Charles was born October 24, 1921 in Yarmouth Maine, the son of the late Clinton and Grace (Burnham) Jacobs and came to this area in 1945. He retired in 1983, after 36 years of service, form Republic Steel where he worked as a Straightener Operator. He was a member of the church, where he had been the custodian, an usher, a deacon, involved with the Sunday school program, and a member of the UPBEATS at the church. Charles enjoyed baseball, especially the Scrappers and Indians, going camping with his family, but most of all he loved the time he spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. His wife, the former Bernice Dieter, whom he married January 6, 1945, passed away December 13, 1990. Charles leaves two sons; John R. (Kathleen) Jacobs of Austintown, and Dana E. (Margaret) Jacobs of Harrison Ohio, as well as three grandchildren; Terri L. Jacobs, Lori Geers, and Dana Jacobs Jr., and two great grandchildren; Nathan and Allison Geers. Besides his wife and parents, Charles is preceded in death by a daughter; Gloria J. Jacobs, one sister; Beverly Smiley, three brothers; Dana E., Kenneth and Lloyd Jacobs, and one grandson Joseph Charles Jacobs. Family and friends may call from 5 to 8 PM Thursday at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel and again from 10 AM until 11 AM at the Immanuel Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the church general fund or to Southern Care Hospice 5401 Ashley Circle, Suite E, Youngstown, Ohio 44515 in Charles' name
