Struthers- Charles 'Charley' Frank Heck, 94, died peacefully Wednesday morning, November 27, 2013, at his home. Mr. Heck was born in Ambridge, Pennsylvania on October 5, 1919 to Nicholas and Fredericka (Tackenberg) Heck. The family moved to Struthers, Ohio in the mid-twenties where Charley attended school. He served in the U. S. Army during WW II, and upon his return to Ohio he went to work at the Youngstown Steel Door and took care of his widowed mother until her death in 1966. Charley loved hunting and fishing and lived many happy years in his mountain cabin in Tionesta, Pennsylvania. He enjoyed flea markets and cooking. He recently returned to Struthers to share a home with his brother William. Charley leaves to cherish his precious memory a sister, Dorothy Tabak of Struthers and two brothers, William and Arthur (Jane) of Youngstown. He also leaves several nieces and nephews and a life-long friend, Elsie Rooney. Charley was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Helena Herig; and brothers, Albert, Walter, and Herbert. The family will receive friends at the Lane Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel, 5797 Mahoning Ave on Wednesday, December 4 from 4PM-6PM. A funeral service will follow calling hours at 6PM. Interment to take place at Lake Park Cemetery. If friends desire, material contributions in Charley's name may be made to the organization of the donor's choice.
