Charles Leroy Markle

Charles Leroy "Chuck" Markle, age 82 of Niles, died Wednesday evening, May 14, 2014, at St. Joseph Health Center. He was born March 19, 1932 in Warren, the son of the late John W. and Margaret A. "Marie" Batesole Markle. He had been a lifetime Trumbull County resident. Chuck was a 1950 graduate of Leavittsburg High School and served as a PFC in the Army National Guard from 1950-52 during the Korean War. He worked for Packard Electric a short time, then together with his friend, Toby Hardin, started H&M Service Mobil station, at East Market St. and North Road. They were partners for 40 years in the auto repair business, eventually owning the Marathon station and then H&M Service at Chestnut and East Market in Warren, retiring in 1998. In his retirement, he worked 8 years for the Warren Tribune Chronicle in newspaper vending box repair and maintenance. Chuck was a member of the Open Door Community Church in McDonald. He loved any type of mechanical work, working on automobiles, woodworking and making wood craft items. He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren and loved his dog, Giz. His wife of 56 years and the love of his life, Twila Mae Gardner Markle, whom he married January 14, 1954, preceded him in death November 14, 2010. Five sisters, Dorothy Williams, Betty Dziak, Nancy Marzano, Margaret Coffey and an infant sister, Elizabeth and three brothers, Laurel "Hardy" Markle, Harry Markle and David Markle have also all preceded in death. Surviving are eight children, Clifford (Eileen, deceased) Belden and Molder (Pinky) Belden both of West Farmington, Sandy Davis, Eileen (Danny) Sisler and Chuckie Lynn (Jeri) Markle all of Warren, Michael (Ester) Markle of Yuma, Ariz., Paul (Sherri) Markle of Mecca and Dennis (Lora) Markle with whom he made his home in Niles; 29 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren and 20 great great grandchildren. and his best friend, Toby Hardin of Southington. A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday, May 29, 2014 at the Open Door Community Church, 525 East Marshall Rd. in Mc Donald, where the family will greet friends from 5:30 until 7 p.m. Pastor Art Nicolli will officiate. Burial will be at Pineview Memorial Park in Warren. Arrangements were entrusted to Lane Family Funeral Homes, Roberts-Clark Chapel in Warren. The family expresses special thanks to St. Joseph Health Center's 6th Floor and ICU staff and to Drs. Kulper and Mahjoub for the loving and excellent care they gave Chuck.
