Services will be held at 2 PM Thursday at the Green Haven Cemetery Chapel for Charles Ray “Raymond” Alverson, 85, of Canfield who passed away Tuesday morning in Briarfield Manor Care Center. Charles, also known as Raymond, was born September 19, 1922 in Lisbon the son of Charles W. and Clara E. (Cook) Alverson. He was a conductor / Brakeman with Penn Railroad for 28 years, retiring in 1978. Ray was an Army veteran serving from 1942 until 1946. He was a member of Canfield Christian Church. Ray’s wife, the former Norma Jean Renkenberger, whom he married July 27, 1957, passed away June 20, 2005. He leaves two children; Gloria Jeanne Hudnell of North Bloomfield, and Charles A. (Karen) Reese of Phoenix, one brother; Robert Alverson of Tennessee, three grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Besides his wife Ray is preceded in death by a brother Carl W. Alverson. Family and friends may call from 1:30 PM until the time of services at the cemetery chapel. Arrangements are by the Lane Funeral Home Canfield Chapel.
