Services will be 9:30 am Friday at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel for Charles Rodney Nickel, 65, of Austintown who passed away Monday afternoon in Presbyterian Hospital in Huntersville North Carolina. Charles was born December 2, 1940 in Pittsburgh the son of Charles Clinton and Helen (Bunce) Nickel. He worked as a carpenter in the area for many years. Charles was also a member of Four Mile Run Christian Church, the Carpenters Union Local #171, and was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War. Charles leaves his wife the former June L. Whitehouse whom he married January 7, 1967, their two children; Curtis Richard Nickel of Austintown, and Elizabeth Robinson of Haleyville, Alabama. He also leaves one sister Kathy Coler of Youngstown, one aunt Pat Bagdon of Pittsburgh, two half brothers; Gary and Clinton Nickel, two half sisters; Susie Marshall and Bonnie Engel, and four step-brothers; Maynard, Seth, Edward, and Ralph Johnson. Charles was preceded in death by his mother and father, and one brother Gordon Nickel. Family and friends may call from 6 to 8 pm Thursday at the funeral home.
