Christoph J. Lorenz

Mineral Ridge- Christoph J. Lorenz, age 83 of Mineral Ridge died Tuesday morning at his daughter’s home. Christoph was born Dec. 9, 1923 in Munich, Germany and was the son of the late Josef and Frieda (Soeffing) Lorenz. He retired as a millwright/ maintenance supervisor for General Motors in Calif. Christoph was a member of V.F.W. Post #4192 in Mineral Ridge,, V.F.W. Post #3000 and #2323 in Calif. where he was Quarter Master for both. He was an avid golfer, bowler and traveler and enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune, O’Reilly Factor and spending time with family and friends. He had served in the U.S. Army during WWII serving in the Rogers Raiders and the 102nd Infantry where he received 3 Bronze Stars, 3 Silver Stars, Russian Presidential Medal and the African Theatre Medal. Christoph is survived by his wife, the former Rosella Reiss whom he married Nov. 23, 1946. He also leaves two daughters, Joye (George) Lange with whom he made his home, Rosemary Lorenz and her fiancée Lee Witiver both of Mineral Ridge, a brother, Bill (Betty Ann) Lorenz of Tucson, AZ a brother-in-law Joe Reiss of Mt. Prospect, IL, three grandchildren, Jim Lange of Mineral Ridge, Jason Lange of Los Angles, Calif., Michael (Brittany) Symons of Lancaster, Calif., numerous nieces and nephews and two step grandchildren, Cassandra and Morgan Witiver.
