AUSTINTOWN- Christopher R. Ludt, 70, passed away surrounded by his family on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown. He was born on June 3, 1945 in Youngstown, son to the late Christopher W. and Julia E. (Susak) Ludt. Chris was a 1963 North High School graduate and went on to earn his Associate Degree at Youngstown State University. Chris joined the Austintown Fire Department where he eventually became a Firefighter Captain before retiring after 34 years of service. Chris was a member of St. Mary's Church in Mineral Ridge and was also active in many Austintown clubs. He was an officer with the Austintown Optimist Club, a member of the Austintown Saxon Club where he often worked and helped out, and a member of the Austintown Eagles. Chris also was a Clown School graduate and he appeared in many different parades and events as "Patches" the clown. Chris will be remembered for the enjoyment he found playing golf, the time he spent wood working various projects, and camping at his spot at Holiday Campland. Chris was always someone that would do anything for anybody and was always known as caring and loving. Even his lighthearted sarcasm brought joy and laughter into the lives of his family and friends. Left to carry on Chris's memory is his loving wife of 16 years, Margaret R. (Ruberto) Ludt, whom he married on September 11, 1999; his daughter, Lisa Inhouse and his grandchildren, Alec and Anthony Inhouse; his son, David Ludt; his brother, Gary (Robbie) Ludt; his niece, Becky (Josh) Ludt-Miller and her children, Emma and Grayson Miller; his step-children, Kenneth (Michele) Martz, Andrea Martz, Julie (Jim) Green, and Michelle (Brian) Benedict; and his grandchildren, Kayti, Anthony, April, Jarod, Cody, Gabby, and Marty; In addition to his parents, Chris is preceded in death by his previous wife, Janet (Hoffman) Ludt. The family will receive friends from 4PM-8PM on Wednesday, September 9 at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel, 5797 Mahoning Ave., where a funeral service will take place on Thursday, September 10, at 10AM.
