Services will be 10 AM Thursday at the Wickliffe United Presbyterian Church for Clarabelle Dunbar, 83, of Austintown who went home to be with the Lord Monday, September 20, 2010 at her home surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with end stage renal disease. Clarabelle was born January 23, 1927 in Punxsutawney PA, the daughter of Sidney W. and Dorothy (Raymer) Johnson and came to the area as a child. She worked in retail for the J. C. Penny Company and Stambaugh Thompsons for several years, but the job she was most passionate about was raising her children. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She took part in DeMolay moms and PTA. Over the years, she was involved in various activities with her children. She graduated from South High School in 1944 where she was a member of the National Honor Society. She enjoyed Fitch High School band activities and football games, attending church and spending time with her family. She married Robert L. Dunbar, on August 17, 1946, and he passed away December 28, 1990. She leaves to morn her passing four children; David R. (Sandy) Dunbar of Raleigh NC, Sandra L. (Larry) Snell, Patty (Bob) Carrick, and Holly (Chuck) Stephens all of Austintown, five grandchildren; Monica, Josh, Mandy, Sarah, and Charlie, and six great grandchildren; Hailey, Kaelyn, Abby, Landon, Carter, and Parker. Besides her parents and husband Clarabelle is preceded in death by a brother Paul Johnson. Friends and family may call from 4 to 7 PM today at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel and again from 9 to 10 AM Thursday at the church. The family would like to thank the staff at Humility House for all the wonderful, compassionate care she received while residing there and also Hospice of the Valley for all their care during Clarabelle’s final days.
