Clifford B Taylor

August 14, 1934 — April 7, 2009

Clifford B. Taylor was born August 14, 1934 in Green County, PA the son of the late Albert Ray and Elizabeth (Hamilton) Taylor. He lived in Hundred, WV before moving to Warren, OH in the 1940’s. In 1952 Cliff moved to Elm Grove, WV but returned back to the Warren area shortly after. Cliff moved to Howland Twp. in 1972 where he resided and passed away at the age of 74. Cliff worked at Otto Haines Construction, John George Construction, Ivor J. Lee, Republic Steel, Savage Construction, AM Systems, Venitta Engineering, and Packard Electric in the robotics department as an engineer. He was an avid bowler rolling 300 games and 700 series. In 1969 along with Tony Zucco, he won the Warren Men’s City Tournament Doubles. Cliff also won the single event in 1979 and had the honor to be installed into the Warren Men’s Bowling Association Hall of Fame in 1987. His love of the sport was shown in the 25 years he devoted to teaching youth bowlers. He taught at Niles Lanes in the 1960’s, Echo Lanes, and Laurel Lanes in the 70’s and 80’s. He started a Jr. traveling league for the youth bowlers and was always there to help anyone with their game. He gained great satisfaction from drilling bowling balls at the Laurel Lanes and Sky Lanes Pro Shops for a large number of area bowlers. Surviving Clifford is his wife of 48 years Carol (Phillips) Taylor, sister Penny (George “Bugs”) Fenton of Vienna, OH, brothers-in-law Arthur (Peggy) Phillips of Elgin, SC and Allen (Dolores) Phillips of El Paso, TX, nephews and nieces, Stephanie Shawkey, Daniel (Michelle) Fenton, Douglas Fenton, Vickie (Ivor) Todd, Danny (Cindy) Phillips, Yvonne (John) Kelly, David (Merry) Phillips, Lisa (John) Mathis, Randall (Lauren) Phillips, Joseph (Tricia) Phillips, Kim (Woody) Sullivan, Chris Flowers, 25 great nephews and nieces and three great, great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law Bernard J. Phillips and a niece Patty Phillips. According to Clifford’s wishes there will be no calling hours or services. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Crest Lane Junior Bowling program Attn: Cheryl Crooks at 3390 Youngstown Rd SE Warren, OH 44484 or to Celtic Hospice Healthcare 3530 Belmont Ave Suite 7 Youngstown, OH 44505. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Roberts-Clark Funeral Chapel.
