Corrine H. Kirk, 82, of Howland passed away 5:20 AM Monday Sept.7, 2009 in Fort Myers, FL. She was born January 19, 1927 in Warren the daughter of the late Banks and Hazel (Kaufman) Hunter. A lifetime area resident, Corrine was a 1946 graduate of Champion High School and was an operator at the Warren Telephone Co. prior to starting a family. She later retired from Carlisle's Dept. Store where she was a salesperson and decorator in the furniture dept. She was a member of the Morning Light Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star. She also was a member of SCOPE where she participated in numerous activities. She especially loved dancing in the "Senior SCOPE Follies" with all her friends. She and her husband Bob were also past members of the Bristol Springs Country Club and she enjoyed knitting, golf, reading and traveling. Corrine was always active in her children's and grandchildren's activities, helping out with school programs and never missing a sporting event. She truly enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren who fondly called her "Yaya" and will be deeply missed by all-especially by her brothers and sisters with whom she was so close. She was a wonderful lady who was loved by everyone and always had a smile on her face-even after suffering a stroke in 2002. Everyone that knew her admired her great attitude and determination. Her husband Robert E. Kirk whom she married Nov.13, 1948 preceded her in death June 2, 1980. She also was preceded in death by a brother Robert Hunter. Corrine is survived by 3 sons; Lawrence Kirk of Tempe, AZ, Robert (Lynal) Kirk of San Jose, CA, Richard (Deborah) Kirk of Howland, 2 daughters Judyth (Phillip) Poston of Ft. Myers, FL, and Linda (Donald) Spence of Howland. She also leaves 8 grandchildren; Ashley Spence of Chicago, Brian and Donald Spence of Los Angeles, Kyle Spence, Clayton and Cody Kirk of Howland, Jessica and Lindsey Kirk of San Jose, 3 brothers Kenneth Hunter of Champion, Milton Hunter of Warren, Richard Hunter of Howland, 2 sisters Katherine "Betty" Collins of Warren, Eleanor Lough of Howland, and several nieces and nephews. There will be a memorial service 1:00 PM Friday Sept. 18, 2009 at Roberts-Clark Chapel where friends will be received from 11-1. The Rev. Myron Daum will officiate. Cremation has taken place. The family suggests material contributions be made to Hospice of the Valley 5190 Market St. Youngstown, OH 44512-2198
